Danville, Ill. - William Ward Williams, 93, of Danville passed away at 6:30 p.m. EDT Sunday, April 21, 2019 at North Logan Health Care in Danville, Illinois.
He was born April 29, 1925 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Carl and Sylva (Culley) Williams.
William married Grace Imogene Kilbury on December 16, 1945 in Danville, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2013.
Survivors include his children: Charlotte Carol (Alva) Gouty of Tilton, Illinois; Tammy J. Naylor of Cayuga, Indiana and William W. (Janet) Williams, Jr. of Westville, Illinois; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and one sister: Iris (John) Etheridge of Valencia, California.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Ward worked for 28 years at Bohn Aluminum in Danville, Illinois as a material handler, retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving with the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Ward crossed the equator and has been around Cape Horn. He was a member of the Grape Creek Baptist Church in Danville and was baptized at Lake Vermilion. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #728 and a lifetime member of the D.A.V. both in Danville. Ward was an inactive member of the Catlin F&AM #285. Ward has written several poems and on his 40th wedding anniversary wrote a poem titled "Loves Bouquet of Roses" to his wife. This poem was later published. Ward also loved his dog Bobbie Jo and going to garage sales. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
