Lodi, Ind. - Caroline J. Morgan, 82, of Lodi (rural Kingman) passed away unexpectedly at 2 p.m. EDT Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at her residence.
She was born January 1, 1938 in Cayuga, Indiana the daughter of the late Dock F. and Lucy M. (Hold) Walters.
Caroline married Jimmy E. Morgan on August 20, 1980 in Danville, Illinois. He survives.
Other survivors include her daughter: Patty (Loren) Self of Elkhart, Indiana; stepson: Franklin (Hallie) Morgan of Terre Haute, Indiana; three grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, along with several nieces and nephews.
Caroline was preceded in death by her stepson: Lester Morgan; sister: Sara Jane Hayden and four brothers: Gerald, Thomas, Paul and Marion Walters.
Caroline retired as head cashier at the VA Illiana Health Care in Danville, Illinois in 1994. Prior to working at the VA, Caroline formerly worked at the A.F.F.C. office in Newport, Indiana. She was a 1955 graduate of Cayuga High School. Caroline was a member of the Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 263 (former secretary), Kingman O.E.S. (55+ years) and the Wabash Valley Steam and Gas Club (former treasurer). She enjoyed baking, canning and spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: Monday, July 6, 2020 at 2 p.m. EDT at Miller Cemetery near Lodi, Indiana. Officiating: Pastor William Lehman. There will be no visitation. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
